In March of 2009, Natasha Richardson had what appeared to be a minor fall in a skiing accident. There were no visible injuries, but Richardson did later complain about a headache. She died shortly thereafter from brain injuries.

Causes and Circumstances

Natasha Richardson died from an injury suffered invarious degrees of severity by many, many people. In a March 2015 report to Congress, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that, “In one year alone, TBIs [Traumatic Brain Injuries] accounted for approximately 2.2 million Emergency Department Visits, 280,000 Hospitalizations, and 50,000 deaths.” Like Richardson, about 40% of these injuries were caused by falls.
